So, you have been blogging for a few weeks now, and the results are not what you had expected they would be? This happens to everyone, even us (#sademoji).

Here are some tips and tricks to grow a social community that we have been exploring. We hope they help you too!

Networking with others

There is power in getting to know other bloggers in your specific industry or content type. Once you start this journey, you will get more traffic, shares and engagement on your blog. Leave a comment – this will ensure you get seen. And remember, if you leave a good comment, more people will pay attention to your profile as you showcase your expertise. In the example below, you can see how the conversation reveals each blog's personality and passion (scroll right to the bottom to see the comments).

It could also be helpful to share each other's content across your networks to increase your audience reach. By connecting with others, you may get some ideas for future blogs too.

Social sharing

Sharing your blog on your social platform is another way to grow your audience, and this will make it easy for people to connect with your blog and share your posts. So, ensure that you have integrated social media elements in your blog. How can readers find your blog if you don't go to them in the first instance?

A word of advice – think about reaching out personally to people who have shared your content or to new social media connections, which will help your posts' social media reach. It's a bit like meeting people in person. Say you wanted to offer to guest blog in a network with an engaged audience, you should try to connect with the blog owner first. Getting to know people will increase your chances of connecting with their social community.

Create a promotional plan

Once you have some content on your blog, it's time to do your marketing. In our previous post, using #socialmediainfluence to win over followers, we shared the importance of social influencers. In short, influencers have the power to help you expand your audience. Take some time to engage influencers that align with your business values – it will be worth the effort.

Then, it is time to go to the mattresses. Create a content schedule to ensure consistency, focus on your target audience, audit your content regularly, research keywords for SEO and integrate paid advertising. If you plan to continue, it's time to create a social media promotional plan to ensure that your blogging is consistent, relevant, and your readers keep returning to your blog over and over.

Finally, be persistent.
